Fueldraulic Test Stand

The Fueldraulic test stand is a custom, high-pressure hydraulic rig capable of supplying up to 4000PSIG of pressure to a customer-supplied unit. Using the industry knowledge that Vortex Systems is known for, the main control valves in this rig were modified and rebuilt to function at the specific gravity of the customer-requested fluid.

The rig’s main capabilities include:

  • Custom-designed and fabricated brine tank, able to use liquid CO2 to achieve fluid temperatures down to -65°F
  • Custom-sized concentric tube heat exchanger to efficiently achieve fluid temperatures up to 350°F without coking of the fluid
  • In-house designed and fabricated ambient box, complete with hydraulic bulkhead feedthroughs, blower, heater, and a CO2 supply solenoid
  • Capable of exposing a customer unit to 390°F hot and -65°F cold ambient temperatures as controlled by Vortex Systems designed electrical control chassis
  • Single-pass heating and cooling allows for rig equipment to run at room temperature fluid
  • In-house fabricated load frame, complete with a 5,000lb hydraulic load actuator, capable of exposing customer units to linear loads ranging from -5,000lbs to 5,000lbs
  • Designed to meet the requirements of Class 1 Division 1/Class 1 Division 2 Hazardous Location Classifications
  • Custom-designed Data Acquisition System to operate, monitor, and record rig and customer unit conditions
  • Ability to facilitate use of customer-provided data acquisition equipment
  • Ability to provide rig/customer unit automation capabilities upon request
  • Ability to collect, monitor, and analyze audio and vibration data from customer unit
  • Custom-designed Human Machine Interface (HMI) to allow for intuitive manual rig control
  • A remote rig control room, complete with heating, air conditioning, and soundproofing for a comfortable operating experience

Here is our newest SCU test stand.  We can adjust the size and shape to meet our customers’ needs.  In this case, we put much of the equipment on a second level to allow for less floor space.

DeIcing Valve Test Stand

The Deicing system is used to break the ice off an airplane’s wings.  This system tests the valves for proper function after repair.
